What
is KDF?
The Wisconsin-Upper Michigan Kiwanis District Foundation,
Inc. (“KDF”) is a not-for-profit corporation chartered by the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District of
Kiwanis International in 1983. In 1984, it was recognized as a tax exempt organization under IRC Section
501(c)(3) by the Internal Revenue Service. KDF generally serves as a monetary foundation for the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District of Kiwanis International
and its member clubs. As such, it serves as a fund-raising vehicle for the District and its member
clubs.
KDF
is a member of the “Kiwanis Family” of organizations.
As
part of the “Kiwanis Family”, KDF seeks to assist Kiwanis
Clubs, Circle K Clubs, Key Clubs, and Builders Clubs
in the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District through
grants, scholarships, and support of worthy projects;
as well as by serving as a tax exempt repository for
bequests and gifts made in support of Kiwanis programs
and projects. KDF also financially assists
worthy
programs and projects of other, non-Kiwanis community
organizations whose objects and goals are
consistent with those of the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan
District of Kiwanis International.
What
is KDF's mission?
To encourage, promote, and financially assist Kiwanis
Clubs and sponsored organizations within the Wisconsin – Upper Michigan Kiwanis District, including
development of special projects and activities.
What
does KDF do?
The
KDF Board meets at least quarterly to review contributions
made, and award Grants, Scholarships and
other monies according to its policies. While primarily awarding
grant monies to Kiwanis Clubs for worthy
projects beyond the typical means of those clubs,
KDF awards other monies as well.
The
Board of Directors which is primarily comprised of 12 geographical Zone Representatives
(representing two Kiwanis Divisions each) and 5 elected Officers.
